Rick Tarkington
President/Project Manager
Upon completing his BSE at Duke University in 1969, Rick began his career in the construction industry as a field superintendent and soon became the main estimator for an interior construction company. In 1985, he joined with Glenn Welch to form Welch Tarkington,Inc. and has been the sole proprietor of the company since Mr. Welch retired in 1995. He is an active project manager and has extensive knowledge of the Atlanta market.
Kim Maxwell
Project Manager
Kim has over thirty years of experience in the industry. He loves a challenge, and whether the project requires a complicated detail, or even some trimming of the budget, he is up to the task. He holds an Associate in Architectural Technology and has been working with Welch Tarkington for the past seventeen years.
Brenda Howard, Office Manager/Comptroller
Brenda has been with Welch Tarkington for fifteen years. She is in charge of all bookkeeping activities and also serves as the office manager, keeping day to day operations running smoothly.
David Walker, LEED AP
Vice President/Project Manager
Dave's background includes seven years of experience as director of construction for a major property management company in Atlanta, and over twenty-five years in the industry in general. He holds a BS in public administration/urban and regional planning and masters in public administration. He has been with Welch Tarkington for eleven years and estimates and manages projects of all scopes and sizes.
Maria Rutland, LEED AP
Project Manager/Marketing Specialist
Maria is a graduate of the University of Georgia and currently serves a dual role at Welch Tarkington. She heads up all marketing activities, in addition to estimating and managing projects. As a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design accredited professional (LEED AP), she also has the knowledge and expertise to manage and implement LEED projects and to assist with other green building strategies.
Superintendents
Our field superintendents work to provide the daily, on-site supervision that keeps each project running smoothly. They are all union carpenters and average twenty years in the industry. Each superintendent had been with Welch Tarkington, Inc. for ten plus years.
